Hellen’s Story

Hellen Buttigieg’s mission: Make Time & Space for What Matters Most

Life Coach. Certified Professional Organizer. TV Host. Author. Speaker. Whatever challenge Hellen takes on, she’s ultimately helping her clients and audience Make Time & Space for What Matters Most. Time for family, friends and fun. Space for balance, harmony and happiness.

Internationally recognized as a pioneer in the field of professional organization, Hellen is also a dedicated Life Coach and Founder of We Organize U.

Hellen has been nominated for a Gemini for her work as a television host on HGTV’s ‘neat’. Her award-winning book, Organizing Outside the Box: Conquer Clutter Using Your Natural Learning Style has won endorsements from other recognized experts in the field.

A Tough Decision Leads to a Profound Change

Hellen’s passion for organization was evident even from a young age. But it took a special opportunity to start her down the path to her true calling. During Hellen’s first semester at college, she was offered a full-time job at a television station. A college education was not something Hellen was prepared to give up. But it seemed foolish to throw away an opportunity in television that could lead to a dream job.

Hellen chose both. This decision had a profound effect on her life. Going to school during the day, working an 8 hour shift at night, finding time for homework and a social life was going to take more than hard work. Hellen knew she had to get better at managing her schedule.

She attacked the task with passion. She read. She experimented with different systems. Going through this experience taught her what habits drain energy and waste time. She discovered the principles of organization and time management that laid the foundation for her own success and her ability to share it with others.

The Joys and Challenges of Raising a Family

Hellen married her college sweetheart, gave birth to two amazing daughters, and decided to become a stay-at-home mom. To keep in shape and help with expenses, Hellen lead fitness classes part-time. The joys and challenges of raising a family helped Hellen further refine her organizing methods and time-management habits.

The Launch of a Dream

After 13 years as a stay-at-home mom, Hellen knew it was the right time for a return to full-time work. She also knew that the perfect job for her was one she would create for herself. At the time, she wanted to complete training to become a life coach, but the cost of the program wasn’t in the budget. So Hellen began organizing homes and offices, mostly as a way to afford the cost of training.

To her delight, the organizing business took off and in less than a year she had her tuition money and completed the training. Hellen could now marry her experience as a professional organizer with her training as a Life Coach to help her clients in a more comprehensive way.

Another Opportunity – A Life Brought Full Circle

After two years of successfully running her business, Hellen was offered another opportunity that was too good to pass up. As in college, an already busy Hellen was offered an extraordinary opening in television, the chance to be the host of HGTV’s show ‘neat’. She was already juggling motherhood, operating a thriving business, and leading fitness classes. Adding 12 hour production days had the potential to overwhelm.

Instead, it gave Hellen the opportunity to use all her experiences and methods to create the life she always wanted. Reflecting on the success of the show, Hellen says, “The systems and methods I used prevented my life from spiraling out of control. Instead, those systems and methods allowed me to create the life I always dreamed of.”

Hellen’s passion for improving the lives of others continues through her work today.
